Alaska News Anchor Charlo Greene Quits her Occupation on Live TV

A news reporter working for an Alaska TV station used a live news bulletin to reveal her ownership of a medical marijuana business and left her job midway through the program to advocate for the drug. Alaskan journalist Charlo Greene who worked for Alaska based news channel KTVA was reporting on the Alaska Cannabis Club on Sunday night’s broadcast. Charlo whose real name is Charlene Egby identified herself as the owner of the club and declared that she would devote all her energy and time to fight for fairness and freedom.

What was more socking was that she used an expletive before walking off the camera and quitting her job on live TV. Soon after she walked off, the camera panned to a colleague at the news desk who was visibly stunned by what just happened and apologized before a very long silence as she was lost for words.

Greene’s outburst was quite unexpected as it came at the end of the KTVA report on the legalization of marijuana in her state which is apparently quite close to her hearts. The director of KTVA (an affiliate of CBS) Bert Rudman apologized to the public for her totally inappropriate behavior and even stated that she has been terminated from the company with immediate effect. The news channel also issued a statement on Twitter shortly after the shocking incident.

The voters of Alaska will decide on the fourth of November whether or not to legalize recreational pot. Green meanwhile has begun a campaign for cannabis reform. Her club connects medical marijuana cardholders with local growers. Greene then launched a video in which she explains the reason for her quitting the job saying that she believes strongly that the current drug policy in the country has ruined the lives of a lot of Americans. Her mission is to change the perception of people who do not believe that smokers are responsible and contributing members of the society.
