Amazon has finally jumped into the market for small HDMI streaming dongles with the launch of its Fire TV Stick. The Stick will be competing directly with Apple TV, Google Chromecast and Roku Streaming Stick. Fire TV Stick is a media streaming stick which is designed specially to allow users to plug it in to the HDMI port of a television and access content like games, movies, TV shows and more. The stick comes with some really amazing features like 8 GB of built-in storage, 1 GB RAM and a dual core processor with MIMO Wi-fi. The best part is that it can be operated with voice control, smartphone as well as remote control.
The company claims that the stick has two times the memory and 32 times more space when compared to its closest competitors. It also offers a much better processing power. The stick allows the users to access the content from Amazon Prime and also supports numerous third-party apps like Spotify, Hulu Plus, NetFlix among many others. The stick also comes with a technology called Fling that lets users switch between their televisions, Fire tablet, Fire phone and viewing content.
It also provides wireless mirroring from products that support Miracast and the compatible Amazon products. You will also get to use other Amazon technologies like X-Ray for TV show information, music or movie. Amazon takes the cake when it comes to the number of games that can be ported to the device. Performance-wise Amazon beats its competitors hands-down.
Ultimately the consumers are the winners as they have a lot of options to choose from at a price under $50. The new Amazon Fire TV Stick is available for pre-order now at $39, but Amazon Prime subscribers can get it for a meager $19 until October 29, 6 am pacific time. Amazon will start shipping the gadget on November 19. So you don’t have to think twice before buying the Fire TV Stick if you own other Amazon products.
