The Green Bay Packers didn’t have to try too hard to register an easy victory of 53-20 over Philadelphia Eagles at Lambeau Field on Sunday. This was their fifth victory at home which has made them one of the toughest team to beat at home this season. It was the first time in their long history that they managed to put up a score of more than 50 points in back-to-back games. At home they have been dominating all their opponents with a combined first-half score of 128-9 this season. The players were playing in such a manner that they knew what was going to happen. Their quarterback Aaron Rodgers was in superb form as he made a pass for 341 yards with a total of three touchdowns.
The game between the two NFC contenders quickly turned into a one-sided affair by the end of the first half as the Packers took a healthy lead of 30-6. The players who performed well for the Packers include Micah Hyde, Mark Sanchez and Julius Peppers. With this victory, the Packers are tied with Detroit Lions on top for NFC North after they lost their game to Arizona Cardinals.
Micah Hyde made an early impact in the game when he returned a punt 75 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter to give the Packers a 17-0 lead. In the defense it was Clay Matthews who performed brilliantly as he was responsible for five tackles, a pass breakup and a sack.
A lot of credit for this brilliant performance goes to Dom Capers the defensive co-ordinator for Packers as he has been responsible for making all the right moves these past two weeks which includes the decision to move Matthews to the improved run defense. The Packers will be playing their next game against the Minnesota Vikings away from home and their coach Mike McCarthy will be expecting the same kind of performance from his team.
