In a tragic incident that took place in Seattle, a KOMO 4 helicopter which belonged to the news broadcaster ABC News crashed close to the city’s famous Space needle. The incident left two people dead inside the helicopter and one person seriously injured who was inside the car over which the helicopter crashed. There were a few lucky people inside other vehicles which also bore the brunt of the crash who escaped without any injuries. The crash took place at 7:45 this morning.
There was some serious problem with the helicopter as it was making a strange noise and collided with many vehicles parked on Broad Street as soon as it took off from ABC’s headquarters. Within seconds, it lost control and went down. As soon as the helicopter crashed, it was engulfed in flames. The injured man came out of his car with his clothes on fire. He sustained severe burns and is recovering in a hospital.
The fire department reached at the site immediately and put out the fire. A lot of pictures were taken by the people who witnessed the crash. Many of them were KOMO 4 employees. The charred remains of the helicopter have been taken into custody by the NTSB as they will conduct an investigation to find out the cause of the mysterious crash.
KOMO news announced the names of the two victims. One of them, Bill Strothman, was a longtime photographer with KOMO, and the other person was the pilot of the helicopter, Gary Pfitzner.
A pall of gloom descended over the office of the news channel as the employees mourned the death of their colleagues. The flags were flown at half-mast at the headquarters of ABC news.
