The Modern Family actress Sarah Hyland who recently broke up with her boyfriend of five years actor Matthew Prokop has managed to get a temporary restraining order against him as she alleged that he verbally and physically abused her during their relationship. The filing of the restraining order happened last week and some of the court documents clearly suggests that their break-up was a very messy affair.
According to certain news reports, 23-year-old Sarah Hyland filed her petition last Friday and the hearing has been scheduled for the 10th of October. Till that time her ex-boyfriend Prokop has been ordered to stay at least 100 yards away from her as well as her dog. The legal documents distinctly mentioned a statement made by Hyland where she accused the 24-year-old Prokop of threatening her through disturbing voice mails and text messages including a threat to commit suicide after they broke up. The actress also made an allegation against Prokop of choking her by pinning her against a car back in May.
Prokop entered a rehab facility in August, but was released a few days back. It was a word of caution from the Director of the rehab facility who told the judge that it would be in the interest of both the individuals if they are kept apart, looking at the attitude and mental state of Prokop.
Sarah called Julie Bowen for support when she broke the news of her decision to part ways with Prokop. Julie Bowen worked with Sarah in Modern Family. Prokop was agitated when he found her at the house. Seeing his reaction, Bowen immediately advised her co-star to leave the house because she clearly was not safe around her ex. Ironically Hyland told a news magazine a long time ago that Bowen disapproving of her beau was completely false.
Both Prokop and his lawyer have refused to comment at the moment in response to the allegations made by Hyland.
