The 20th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards were presented on January 18, 2014, at the Los Angeles Shrine Exposition Center. These awards are unique in that they recognize only performances, and not films or television shows or series. They are also unique because all 100,000 members of the Screen Actors Guild receive voting information and 2,200 members have their ballots picked at random to have their votes counted.
Winning top award for the best male actor in a leading role was Matthew McConaughey as Ron Woodroof in the Dallas Buyer’s Club. The award for best female actor in a leading role was presented to Cate Blanchett for her performance as Jasmine in Blue Jasmine.
