An earthquake hit southern California at around 1:30 early in the morning on Wednesday. According to the latest news received from US Geological Survey, the earthquake occurred somewhere near San Bernandino County. The epicenter of the earthquake was someplace three miles north of Fontana, which is supposed to be a very densely populated region. The shaking of the buildings was also felt in Rialto which is located four miles from the epicenter. Most people were asleep when the earthquake occurred and since it was a mild quake, not many people realized that it had even happened. Some mild aftershocks also occurred half an hour after the earthquake.

No major damage to either property or lives was reported and people just went on with their daily routine the next morning. People who were awake during the time when the earthquake hit shared their experience and compared the earthquake to a car crashing into their building. The quake was strong enough to set off school alarms in the neighborhood. The only damage caused by the quake was some broken glass windows at school. The police patrols were on alert when the earthquake occurred and were ready for any kind of emergency situation. A huge crack about 10 foot long developed on a concrete stretch of the interstate highway, but it has not yet been confirmed that the damage occurred due to the earthquake.

This quake marks the 20th anniversary of another quake which occurred in Northridge. This region is prone to such earthquake but no major earthquake has been reported in recent times which has caused any grave damage to life and property. The people though were left shaken by this incident and hope that there won’t be anymore such quakes and have since moved on with their life.
