Brain Hoyer the Cleveland Browns quarterback showed what he is made of in what can be termed as the biggest moment of his career by completely embarrassing his opposite number Andy Dalton in the Thursday night encounter between the Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns. Thanks to Hoyer’s superb form and their tight defense, the Browns completely routed Bengals by a scoreline of 24-3 at the Paul Brown stadium. With this huge victory, the Cleveland Browns are at the top spot in AFC North tied with Steelers.
It was a forgettable day for Dalton as he had nothing to show for except for a low rating of 2.0 and three interceptions. The coach of Bengals put the fans and Dalton himself out of misery by taking him off and inserting Jason Campbell in his place with just a few minutes remaining for the finish. This comprehensive victory was surprising as the Bengals were in quite good form. They were on a dream run of fourteen straight games without a loss. This was apparently their first defeat at home since 2012.
With this victory, the Browns who were on a 17-game losing streak on the road in the division finally managed to bust it. With the superlative performance on Thursday night, Hoyer has managed to shut the mouth of his critics for a while and has proved to be the long-term answer for the quarterback position for Browns. By the time the game was over, the stadium was reverbearting with chants of Brian Hoyer.
The Browns were leading 17-3 at halftime thanks to touchdowns by Isaiah Crowell and Ben Tate and a field goal by Cundiff. The Bengals, who looked jaded by an overriding Browns defense, managed only a single field goal at the break. The players ran into the locker room as their fans passionately booed them. The CINCINNATI Bengals though are expected to pick themselves up after this mauling as it was hopefully just a bad day.
