Singer, song-writer and rapper Marshall Bruce Mathers III who is considered to be one of the most popular rapper in the world and is better known by his stage name Eminem has once again created a huge controversy by rapping and fantasizing about punching pop star Lana Del Rey in a promotional video. In that same particular line he also refers to the disgraced football player Ray Rice who used to play for Baltimore Ravens. Rice was recently involved in an ugly incident as he was seen knocking out his then girlfriend Janay Rice on camera. He then subsequently dragged her body out of the hotel elevator back in February.

Eminem adopts a particular method to his attacks. It will always be homophobic, celebrity-directed and geared towards women. The women he attacks in his lyrics are also, normally, reflective of major social changes, like the rise of teen pop.

Del Rey has not made any comments on the derogatory lyrics, but some other high-profile rappers and artists including New-York based Azealia Banks responded with some really harsh words. Many others condemned his lyrics as attention seeking and dangerous. Many people on the other hand came out in support of the rapper saying that the man is at it again.

The lyrics also mentions other celebrities like Kate Hudson and Britney Spears. This is not the first time that Eminem has referenced women in his lyrics. This particular act by Eminem is neither surprising nor shocking as he has been doing this for the past 15 years. The first time he did this was in a song in his second album Slim Shady LP . That album which was released in 1999 brought him instant fame as it drew heavily on lyrics hateful to women. He also targeted Jessica Simpson, Amy Winehouse, Lindsay Lohan among others in his 2009 album Relapse.

Whatever people may say, but Eminem surely knows how to keep himself in the limelight.
