A self-confessed detective Russell Edwards has claimed to have found the identity of the famous serial killer who was known as Jack the Ripper. According to Edwards, 23-year-old Aaron Kosminski was definitely the man behind the gruesome serial killing back in 1888 in London’s East End. Aaron Kosminski was a Polish immigrant and was one of the six suspects behind the killing spree that terrorized the people of London in the late 19th century.
The evidence that turned out to be critical in revealing the identity of the person behind the moniker was a blood-stained cloak which Edwards bought in 2007 in an auction in Bury St Edmunds. The cloak contained vital evidence which ultimately led him to the murderer after a comprehensive DNA analysis was conducted. Edwards claims to have worked on the mystery for a period of more than 14 years and said that the blood-stained shawl is the only piece of forensic evidence in this particular case.
Jack the Ripper killed at least five women in the most brutal way. He murdered them by slashing their throat, dismembering all their internal organs and left their mangled bodies in alleys in Whitechapel. 48-year-old Edwards from north London was one of the many people who was enthralled by the famous murder mystery and used to investigate it during his spare time. After he bought the shawl, he took the help of Jari Louhelainen, a skilled person in molecular biology and managed to discover the truth.
However, many other experts believe that the evidence in the form of the blood-stained shawl is not entirely reliable as it has been handled by a lot of people over the years. A new book was released recently by Edwards called Naming Jack the Ripper. Edwards was also inspired to search for the identity of the killer after watching the Johnny Depp film called From Hell which was based on the famous killer.
