The cast of the next episode of Star Wars was announced recently and young British actor John Boyega’s name has been mentioned in it. He is one of the new stars to be cast in the latest installment. There will be many who will reprise their roles like Mark Hamil, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford. The announcement of the cast was made on Tuesday by Lucasfilm and Disney. The shooting for the film is expected to start from next month.
The movie will be directed by the maker of Star Trek, JJ Abrams. The series which was made famous by George Lucas revolutionized the way science fiction movie was made.
The 22-year old Boyega came into limelight when he played the role of Moses in the teen movie Attack the Block, which released in the year 2011. He received a lot of appreciation for his work in that movie. He is all set to appear in 24: Live Another Day an upcoming miniseries produced by Fox Studio. Boyega also played a small role in Spike Lee’s TV movie Da Brick.
The duration and the character Boyega is going to play in Episode-VII is still not known, but there was a rumor going around that he will be cast in a lead role and he had to compete against some of the other talented young stars to bag the role. There are many other newcomers who will be acting alongside him like Adam Driver and Daisy Ridley. The lead actor of the movie Inside Llewyn Davis Oscar Issac will also be featuring in the movie.
Director Abrams wanted some fresh faces for the latest installment. The cast of the original movie, which was released back in 1977 was also relatively unknown, but the movie turned the actors into stars overnight. The Episode VII is expected to release by December.
