Search for the Missing Malaysian Plane Still on

The search operation for the Malaysian Airlines Fight 370 which disappeared a week ago under mysterious circumstances is still going on. Contact with the flight was last made when it was about to enter Vietnam air space. The flight was en route to Beijing, China from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The flight which is still missing had a total of 239 people on board. There were some reports of the flight being hijacked by terrorist, but they have not been substantiated yet. However, according to one confirmed report, there were a few people on the flight who gained access to the plane through forged passports. They are believed to be Iranian citizens. However, there are no clues suggesting that they were terrorists.

Majority of the people on board the aircraft were Chinese citizens and they have deployed their full force in searching this missing plane. There were many Malaysian citizens as well on board including the crew. The Malaysian authorities have asked for help from many countries and they have received positive response from many as the magnitude of the search has expanded.

The search operations which were carried out by a number of countries initially covered a large area around the Strait of Malacca and some portion of the South China Sea. If the plane is not found soon, then new search operations may have to be conducted around the Indian Ocean as well.

The disappearance of this plane has been the most baffling in recent times as it is quite extraordinary that such a plane can go missing in spite of having radio traffic, radar and other latest technology. However, there is little hope of anyone being rescued even if the plane is found which is believed to have flown for quite some time after it lost contact.
