Softbank Announces Changes In Equity Interest Due To Alibaba NYSE Debut

Softbank is expected to gain 500 billion yen or $4.6 billion USD from Alibaba Group Holding’s share in the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).  Alibaba (Alibaba document) entered the NYSE with an end trade price of $98.89 dollars a share, a 38% percent gain of the evaluation on Friday September 19, 2014.  Alibaba (NYSE: symbol BABA) is an online and mobile commerce company (announcement document).

SoftBank History:

SoftBank is a Japanese company that operates telecommunications, internet, broadband, e-commerce, finance, marketing, media, and various other businesses.  SoftBank was founded in Tokyo, Japan in 1981. (SoftBank Japan Website)

In the year 2012, SoftBank acquired 70% percent of the U.S. company Sprint Nextel Corporation for $20.1 billion dollars.

Sprint Nextel Corporation:

Sprint Corporation is a telecommunications company that provides wireless and internet services.  Sprint company was founded in 1899 (Formerly known as the “Brown Telephone Company”) to setup telephone technology in rural areas in Kansas and Abilene.  In 2013, Sprint merged with Nextel Communications that created the name Sprint Nextel Corporation.
