Former world number one golfer Tiger Woods experienced pain in his back again while playing at the final round of the WGC Bridgestone Invitational. He had to withdraw from the event that took place on Sunday because of the back injury and went back to Florida immediately to find out how serious the injury is this time. The latest injury has cast serious doubts on his playing at the PGA championships in Louisville, Kentucky, which will begin on Thursday.

His agent Mark Steinberg made a statement saying that it is way too early to say how long it is going to take for him to recover and start playing. It is quite unlikely that he would play at the PGA championships as there is not enough time for him to get the treatment and recuperate.

Woods left the Firestone Country Club in agony as he experienced back spasms after striking his drive on the ninth hole of the final round at the Bridgestone Invitational. He fell down awkwardly into a bunker at the same event which must have aggravated the discomfort. This was only his third tournament since the time he was out for three months with a back injury which seems to have resurfaced again. His injury is also a huge setback for the US golf team as they are supposed to play the Ryder Cup in Scotland against Europe which is scheduled for next month.

The captain of the team Tom Watson is hoping that Woods would recover fully by the time the event starts, as he is a vital cog in their team and his absence could prove costly for them. Watson even sent him a text urging him to get well soon. Woods also has been inconsistent with his performance recently and has played in only six events this season with his best being a 25th place at the World Golf Championships Cadillac Championship.
