The Bachelorette Pays Tribute to Eric Hill

The producers of the show The Bachelorette had to handle an uncomfortable situation when a former contestant Eric Hill died in a paragliding accident in Utah on April 23rd. The 31-year-old had just wrapped up his episodes for the current season in which he was one among many, vying for the attention of Andi Dorfman.

The creators were left with two tricky options of either leaving out his scenes in the show altogether or editing his scenes. Both these options could have left a bad taste in the mouth for the audience and especially his family. The show is not known for handling tough and awkward situations as it is more popular for exploiting the emotional weakness of a person.

However, at the season 10 premiere which was televised on May 19th, the host of the show Chris Harrison paid a very cautious tribute to Eric and dedicated the entire season to him. Chris also described how this tragic incident has affected the cast and crew of the show. However, he also added that after they get over the mourning, they all will have to deal with the situation in a professional manner and carry on with their obligation to the show. It will be a very strange experience for the audience to see the show knowing that the person they are watching is no longer alive.

The leading lady of this season Andi Dorfman was quite devastated and shocked when she heard about the news of Eric’s tragic death. She then went on to describe the kind of person Eric was and how he loved his sporting life. During a one-on-one interaction between the two, he told her how he loved doing adventurous activities which was quite ironic as he died while doing an adventurous act. The audience will be seeing more of him in the show as he advances to the next episode.
