Police in Los Angeles arrested 51-year-old popular TV actor Michael Jace, who is on suspicion for the murder of his wife April Jace, who was found dead at their home on Tuesday. According to officer Lyman Doster of the Los Angeles Police Department, April Jace was shot dead at her home in Los Angeles on Monday night. Michael Jace is the main accused and was the first one to call 911 to report the incident. The neighbors also dialed the emergency number when they heard gunshots.
According to the preliminary reports from the police, the motive of the murder is believed to be domestic violence. The authorities have detained and booked Jace on the charges of homicide. He was sent to the Los Angeles jail and will be held there on a $1 million bail amount.
It is still not clear whether Jace has hired a lawyer to defend himself in the homicide case. The hearing is not expected to take place before Thursday according to the spokeswoman of the LA County district lawyer. Jace became a familiar face in the American TV scene thanks to his role as a Los Angeles cop in popular TV series ‘The Shield’.
Michael and April’s two kids were at home when their mother was shot. Initially, the kids were taken to the police station after which they were handed over to the Department of Children and Family Services.
This is not the first time that Jace has been on the wrong side of the law. He has a history of domestic violence involving his first wife Jennifer Bitterman with whom he had a bitter court battle for the custody of his son.
April who worked as a financial counselor at Biola University will be sorely missed according to a statement issued by the president of the university.
