Boston Bruins Register a Close Victory Against Detroit Red Wings

In the National Hockey League or the NHL, the Boston based team Boston Bruins came from two goals behind to defeat the team from Detroit, the Detroit Red Wings by a narrow margin of 3-2 in OT on April 24. The Red Wings played very aggressively from the beginning, but the Bruins hit back hard. The defeat means that the Red Wings are now on the threshold of elimination from the NHL.

It was Jarome Iginla who scored with just six minutes remaining in the overtime. His shot went in off the leg of an opponent. This was the Game 4 of the first-round series. The Bruins can now advance to the next round if they win the game 5 against the same team on Saturday, but this time, the game will take place at their home rink, so the Bruins are confident of a victory.

In case the Red Wings win their game against the Bruins away from home, they will play host to the same team again in Game 6. In Game 4, Detroit took the lead early with goals from Niklas Cronwall and Pavel Datsyuk. Torey Krug though pulled one back for the Bruins in the second period. Soon after, Milan Lucic tied the game very early in the third period.

The coach of the Red Wings Mike Babcock lamented the defeat, but said that the Bruins played really well after they were down by two goals. Detroit’s captian Henrik Zetterberg was back in the team after a long time as he was sidelined by an injury to his back two months ago. The home fans were elated to see their captain in the rink which gave the team a huge boost.

Interestingly, both the goalscorers for Red Wings became fathers soon after the game got over. Unfortunately, the game didn’t end the way they wanted.
